By Zhihui Wang Ximin Cui Debao Yuan Guo Wang Kai Kang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.01, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

Fusion of images with different spatial resolution can improve visualization of the images involved. This study tries to show that the fusion of the images from the same sensor system can improve quality of the original images. Four image fusion algorithms were used in the study of data fusion of Landsat 7 ETM+ imagery, taking southeastern part of Beijing City as the case study, they are the Smoothing Filter-Based Intensity Modulation (SFIM), High-Pass Filter (HPF) Transform, Brovey Transform, Multiplication (MLT) Transform. The effectiveness of the four fusion algorithms has been evaluated based on mean, deviation, information entropy, average gradient and correlation. The study reveals that the SFIM transform is the best method in retaining spectral information of original image, which does not cause spectral distortion and it has highest spatial frequency information. Therefore, fused images from the same sensor system can be used for improving visual interpretation and data quality.

By Jao-Hong Cheng Shu-Wei Chen

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.02, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

The trend of playing online games as an online entertainment has rapidly proliferated worldwide. This paper examines critical factors related to the selection of online games. Taking content design and operations management into account, we identified 15 constructs in the literature survey. The fuzzy Delphi Method is used to evaluate the primary criteria collected from 20 heavy players in Taiwan and the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process employed to calculate the weights of these criteria so as to establish a fuzzy multi-criteria model of online game selection. The results indicate the greatest weight being placed on the dimension of online game selection, and the 11 critical criteria related to online game selection were: (1) scenario, (2) graphics, (3) sound/light effects, (4) interface, (5) access, (6) interactivity, (7) security, (8) reliability, (9) responsiveness, (10) assurance, and (11) empathy. This study may have a contribution to make in terms of understanding how online game companies can reinforce content design and operation quality in an attempt to achieve competitiveness.

Retrieval of Motion Capture Data Aids Efficient Digital Learning

By Sheng-Chih Chen Wei-Kuang Chen Tsai-Sheng Kao Jui-I Hsu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.03, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

This study aims to integrate digital technology with the animation production process. By experiencing and learning how body joints move — with digital technology as the learning aid — students can create results similar to motion-captured body movements. This then can be applied to animation design with the hope that it can help the students in their future employment. This paper focuses on digital learning and technology to bring forth body movement production principles and an integrative framework. The study results can offer training to front-end talents of the digital content industry. In addition, the main contribution lies in the research and development of training methods and linking them with digital learning techniques. This can provide directions for the development of upcoming relevant cultural industrial courses. This paper will use human-like character animation —that is comparatively harder to represent in 3D computer animation — as the example. It will also discuss the variations in results achieved by different production processes. At the same time, feasible training directions are provided as references for learning digital technologies.

Based on the construction and teaching practices of school's quality network curriculum of material physics and chemistry in Chengdu University of Technology, a few related hot issues are discussed in this paper. The orientation and characterization of the quality network curriculum are analyzed. And a series of the concrete optimization countermeasures and measures are put forward to improve the curriculum construction and teaching quality, such as teaching aims and demands, curriculum system and structure, teaching methods and means, curriculum management and evaluation, and websites construction and service quality and so on. We point out that the long-time construction, maintenance and service of the excellent quality website play a key role in the quality network curriculum construction and teaching. This has important realistic significance to increase continue the teaching effect and promotes professional cultivation of materials science and engineering.

Role of Blackboard Platform in Undergraduate Education A case study on physiology learning in nurse major

By Liu Jianxiang Ding Yuemin Ding Xingeng

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.05, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

Blackboard platform is currently used for undergraduate education in our college. To investigate its role in physiology learning, we conducted a survey on undergraduate students in nurse major. The results suggested that Blackboard platform is helpful and playing an important role in physiology learning. But compared with other learning manners, e-learning on Blackboard is neither the mostly adopted method of learning, nor the preferred means in reviewing. We conclude that Blackboard is not a substitute of textbook, but Blackboard learning may become an important complement to traditional education in undergraduate students.

By Yanhong YUE

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.06, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

In this paper, following the characteristics and rules of English teaching, and by using pedagogical theory and the method of mathematical modeling we establish an Analytic Hierarchy Process model on the evaluation of quality-oriented education in college English teaching. And the computing results show that "classroom learning" is the most important, followed by "extra-curricular study", "English contests", "student research", "social practice", "teaching staff", "academic seminars", "teaching facilities", "community activities", which will be helpful to the reform of college English teaching.

By Jie Shui-Ping

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.11, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

In china, developing rapidly in Internet teaching exits serious lack of affection. This article aims to analyze the features on the lack of affection, reveal the causes of it and try to give corresponding solutions. The results indicate that lack of affection have manifested themselves mainly on lacking affinity for the resources of the network courses, being deficient in emotional information in virtual communication, being careless with emotional communication, the commercialized relations between teachers and students, and the lack of positive emotion. The main reasons that bring about the lack of affection are the impact of traditional education which pays more attention on intellectual education instead of affective education, the difficulties of design of teaching in affective domain, the inadequacy of role transition of teachers, the defects of Internet environment, the inadequacy of interaction in network teaching. At last, based on the perspective of teachers, students, and study resources, corresponding solutions on the lack of affection are given.

By Caixian ye Gang Zhang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.05.12, Pub. Date: 29 May 2012

Smaller time loss and smoother information communication mode is the urgent pursuit of the software R&D enterprise. Information communication is difficult to control and manage and it needs more technical to support. Data mining is an intelligent way tried to analyze knowledge and laws which hidden in massive amounts of data. Data mining technology together with share repositories can improve the intelligent degree of information communication mode. In this paper, the framework of intelligent information communication mode which based on data mining technology and share repositories is advanced, and data mining model for information communication of software development is designed. In view of the extant single decision tree algorithm existence the characteristics that counting inefficient and its learning based on supervise, a new semi-supervised learning algorithm three decision trees voting classification algorithm based on tri-training (TTVA) is proposed. This algorithm in training only requests a few labeled data, and can use massively unlabeled data repeatedly revision to the classifier. It has overcome the single decision tree algorithm shortcoming. Experiments on the real communicated data sets of software developmental item indicate that TTVA has the good identification and accuracy to the crux issues mining, and can apply to the decision analysis of the development and management of the software project. At the same time, TTVA can effectively exploit the massively unlabeled data to enhance the learning performance.
