Extraction of Sequence Conservation Features for the Prioritization of Candidate Single Amino Acid Polymorphisms

Although remarkable success has been achieved by genome-wide association (GWA) studies over the past few years, genetic variants discovered in GWA studies can typically account for only a small fraction of heritability of most common diseases. As such, the identification of multiple rare variants that are associated with complex diseases has been receiving more and more attentions. However, most of the recently developed statistical approaches for detecting association of rare variants with diseases require the selection of functional variants before the successive analysis, making an effective bioinformatics method for filtering out non-relevant rare variants indispensible. In this paper, we focus on a specific type of genetic variants called single amino acid polymorphisms (SAAPs). We propose to prioritize candidate SAAPs for a specific disease according to their association scores that are calculated using a guilt-by-association model with a set of features derived from protein sequences. We validate the proposed approach in a systematic way and demonstrate that the proposed model is powerful in distinguishing disease-associated SAAPs for the specific disease of interest.

Parallel Algorithms for Freezing Problems during Cryosurgery

Treatment planning based on numerical simula-tion before cryosurgery is an indispensable way to achieve exactly killing of tumors. Furthermore, intraoperative pre-diction based on monitoring results can lead to more accu-rate ablation. However, conventional serial program is diffi-cult to meet the challenge of real-time assistance with com-plex treatment plans. In this study, two parallel numerical algorithms, i.e. parallel explicit scheme and Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) scheme using the block pipelined method for parallelization, based on an effective heat capac-ity method are established to solve three-dimensional phase change problems in biological tissues subjected to multiple cryoprobes. The validation, speedups as well as efficiencies of parallelized computations of the both schemes were com-pared. It was shown that the parallel algorithms developed here can perform rapid prediction of temperature distribu-tion for cryosurgery, and that parallel computing is hopeful to assist cryosurgeons with prospective parallel treatment planning in the near future.

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing and Weighted-Clustering Algorithm for Cognitive Radio Network

Cognitive radio is a promising technique for efficient utilization of idle authorized spectrum since it is able to sense the spectrum and reuse the frequency when the primary user is absent. In order to overcome the fading, shadowing or hidden terminals in independent detection, cooperative detection is presented. The performance of cooperative sensing is studied in this paper. To enhance the sensing ability, some weighted-cooperative spectrum sensing techniques have been proposed. In this paper, different from the previous studies, we propose a novel weighted-clustering cooperative spectrum sensing algorithm based on distances for cognitive radio network. We firstly classify the secondary users into a few clusters according to several existent methods, and then use cluster-head to collect the observation results come from different secondary users in the same cluster and make a cluster-decision. Considering the different distances between the clusters and the fusion center, different weightings are used to weight the cluster-decisions before combining. The simulation results show that our proposed method improve the probability of detection and reduce the probability of error.

Body and Face Animation Based on Motion Capture

This paper introduces the motion capture technology and its use in computer animation. Motion capture is a powerful aid in computer animation and a supplement to the traditional key-frame animation. We use professional cameras to record the body motion and facial expression of the actor and then manipulate the data in software to eliminate some occlusion and confusion errors. As to data that is still not satisfying, we use data filter to smooth the motion by cutting some awry frames. Then we import the captured data into Motionbuilder to adjust the motion and preview the real-time animation. At last in Maya we combine the motion data and character model, let the captured data drive the character and add the scene model and music to export the whole animation. In the course of computer animation, we use this method to design the animation of military boxing, basketball playing, folk dancing and facial expression.

PCR Detects the DNA Vaccines in mice Vaccinated via and Construction Containing Hsp70 and GP5 /M protein of PRRSV

Construction of Eukaryotic recombinant expression Vector pCI-ORF5-ORF6/ pCI-ORF5-ORF6B-Hsp70 Containing Hsp70 and PRRSV GP5/M (encoded by ORF5 and ORF6 genes), and to study its immune effect. After being identified by enzyme analysis and nucleotide sequencing test, the repression vector plasmid was transfected into COS-7 cells. The transient expression protein was detected by Western-blotting. The immunogenicities of this DNA vaccine constructs were firstly investigated in a mouse moder. IFN-γ, IL-4 of cytokine, and the spleen T-lymphocyte subgroup quantity (CD4+/CD8+) were detected, DNA vaccine distribution in mice by PCR .The result shows that the recombinant plasmid pCI-ORF5-ORF6-Hsp70 could induce higher response of cellular immune responses and specific immune responses in mouse, the DNA Vaccines in mice Vaccinated via as heart and liver ,lung and kidney, muscle and brain each time step after immunity. providing the clinical basic data and theoretical basis for success of the DNA vaccine development.

Design and Simulation of Axial Flow Maglev Blood Pump

The axial flow maglev blood pump (AFMBP) has become a global research focus and emphasis for artificial ventricular assist device, which has no mechanical contact, mechanical friction, compact structure and light weight, can effectively solve thrombus and hemolysis. Magnetic suspension and impeller is two of the important parts in the axial flow maglev blood pump, and their structure largely determines the blood pump performance. The research adopts electromagnetic and fluid finite element analysis, and puts forward a method to design the magnetic suspension and impeller of axial flow blood pump, which tacks into account the small volume of axial blood pump. The magnetic bearing’s characteristics are evaluated by electromagnetic finite element analysis. The Blades have been designed by calculating aerofoil bone line, and make simulation analysis for different thicken ways of blade by Fluent software, and make a conclusion that the blade thickened with certain rules has better characteristics in the same conditions. The results will provide some guidance for design of axial flow maglev blood pump, and establish theoretical basis for application of the implantable artificial heart pump.

Predicting Post-craniectomy ICP: A Comprehensive Compartmental Model including Decompressive Craniectomy

A novel lumped-parameter model is proposed to help with establish practice criteria of decompressive craniectomy and explain post-craniectomy intracranial dynamics. Besides traditional four major parts of arterial and venous blood, cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissue, another compartment produced by secondary intracranial hypertension is included here. The elliptical deflection solution under uniformly distributed pressure is introduced to compute the craniectomy compartment volume and incorporate it into existing differential equations. Under particular pathology in this paper our model predicts the waveform of post-craniectomy intracranial pressure, which measures the clinical effectiveness of such an operation. Then a statistical model—Gaussian fitting model is used to fit our simulation data. This quantitative model provides a possible way to designate the operation criteria such as the size of decompressive craniectomy. Finally we propose the optimal interval of craniectomy size as from 100 to 300 square centimeters and that larger than 400 square centimeters would not obviously reinforce pressure reduction anymore.

Dynamic Passenger OD Distribution and System Performance of Taxi Operation System

The complexity of taxi operation system grows out of the inherent dynamics and randomness of taxi services. In this paper, we consider a taxi operation system to be a special structure queuing system, and present a simulation model of cruising taxi operation system. It is supposed that vacant taxis cruise in the city to search for passengers, and their search strategies are based on drivers’ experience and available information. With a given OD distribution, the dynamic features of the taxis’ 24-hour available service can be recurred. Through a simulation experiment, it is shown that considering the time-variant effect can help to get more accurate information about taxi services. A new method of determining the system optimal taxi fleet size is developed. These are helpful to taxi supervisor for regulating urban taxi operation system more efficiently and taxi drivers for providing better service.
