Intelligent home automation has become more popular over the decade. Integration of automation in a home security, enhances its self-dependability. An intelligent home, integrated with various smart system modules can provide convenient and safe environment for the inhabitants and home appliances which can be easily controlled and monitored even from a remote distance. In this paper an intelligent home automation and environmental solution is proposed along with the architecture of integrated sensor modules. This proposed system is embedded with electronic lock driven with password verification and biometric finger print scanner. This sensing tools ensure the system to prevent unauthorized access.  It is comprised with video recording of unauthorized person or intruder moving around the home or office premises. Moreover, PIR motion sensor, IR sensors would also work as safeguard by helping to capture image and Skype video calling from the inside of home or office. User will also be able to monitor the present condition of the home or office by using Facebook post of image and message status. The implemented system as a prototype for the justification and attestation of the proposals has been tested successfully. The observed data ensures that the system is working efficiently.

Design and Development of a Versatile and Intelligent Home Security System

By Md. Khalid Hossain Jewel Md. Niaz Mostakim M.K. Rahman Md. Shahjahan Ali Sheikh Dobir Hossain Md. Khalid Hossain Himangshu Kumar Ghosh

This paper deals with the designing and implementation of microcontroller based security system to alert when unauthorized persons try to enter in a home. The first phase of security was implemented using a GSM module to send alert message (SMS). To make the system robust additional layers of security has been incorporated by including security devices such as android based door password, manual keyboard to open the door, PIR motion to detect unauthorized person in the home, rotating ultrasonic sensor by servo motor to active the camera to capture image and RF transceiver to produce voice signal to alert people outside the home. The system's main hardware was designed by Arduino based microcontroller ATmega328. Arduino ISP was used for system designing and Arduino serial monitor is used to test the GSM module. The implemented system was seen to perform well.

PAPR Reduction of OFDM Signal Using Sequential Phase Sequence SLM Based Transceiver without Side Information

By Salim Raja Md. Shahjahan Ali Md. Khalid Hossain Jewel Md. Imran Hossain

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2015.01.03, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2015

Researches in the reduction of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) from orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) output signals are being done using many techniques. Selected mapping (SLM) technique is a distortion-less technique and is a well known method to reduce high PAPR of OFDM signal. One drawback of SLM is its requirement of side information bits to recover original data block at the receiver side which lead rate of data loss. In this paper, we have proposed a sequential phase sequence SLM (SPS-SLM) based OFDM transceiver without side information and studied its performance. For the proposed method, a specific set of phase sequences is designed. MATLAB simulation shows that the proposed scheme performs well in terms of PAPR. Proposed method provides almost the same PAPR reduction performance compared to the conventional SLM method requiring side information.
