Waleed Al-Nuaimy received a degree in electronic engineering and telecommunications from Saddam University in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1995, and subsequently a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Liverpool in the UK in 1998. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool as a lecturer in signal processing in 1999 after a brief period working in industry. His current research is centred around techniques to intelligently process and interpret biomedical and other non-destructive testing data, with a particular interest in geophysical data such as groundpenetrating radar and magnetometric data, and ultrasonic data. Other research interests include the development of intelligent agent-based implantable biodevices for the treatment of medical conditions such as hydrocephalus.
