Challenges of Mobile Devices’ Resources and in Communication Channels and their Solutions

By Rashid G. Alakbarov

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijcnis.2021.01.04, Pub. Date: 8 Feb. 2021

The article is dedicated to the development of cloudlet based mobile cloud computing (MCC) to address the restrictions that occur in the resources of mobile devices (energy consumption, computing and memory resources, etc.) and the delays occurring in communication channels. The architecture offered in the article more efficiently ensures the demand of mobile devices for computing and storage and removes the latency that occur in the network. At the same time, the tasks related to energy saving and eliminating delays in communication channels by solving the problems that require complex computing and memory resources in the cloudlets located nearby the user were outlined in the article.

Method for Effective Use of Cloudlet Network Resources

By Rashid G. Alakbarov

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijcnis.2020.05.04, Pub. Date: 8 Oct. 2020

The article addresses the issue of balanced placement of mobile software applications of mobile users in cloudlets deployed near base stations of Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN), taking into account their technical capabilities. It is noted that the proposed model is more efficient in meeting the demand for computing and memory resources of mobile devices, eliminating network delays and using a reliable communication channel. At the same time, a minimum of cloudlet-based communication channels with a mobile user was suggested, reducing the network load and reliability of the communication channel when using multimedia software on mobile devices. The article reviews the balanced distribution of the tasks in the cloudlet network. If a user offloads the task to the nearest cloud and resolves it there, then the delays and energy consumption will be less. When the cloudlet is far from the mobile device, as the number of communication channels increases the delays are observed. Moreover, the article discusses the issue of selecting the cloudlets that meet some of the user requirements. Using the possible values that determine the importance of cloudlets (vacant resources in cloudlets, closeness of cloudlets to the user, high reliability, etc.), the conditions, according to which the user's application is offloaded to the certain cloudlet, are studied and a method is proposed.

The Skyline Operator for Selection of Virtual Machines in Mobile Computing

By Rasim M. Alguliyev Ramiz M. Aliguliyev Rashid G. Alakbarov Oqtay R. Alakbarov

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmecs.2018.11.01, Pub. Date: 8 Nov. 2018

The article provides a solution to the problem of placing mobile users’ queries (tasks or software applications) on a balanced virtual machine (VMs) developed on cloudlets placed near base stations of the Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN) taking into account their technical capabilities. For this purpose, hierarchically structured architecture and algorithm based on cloudlets are proposed for the selection of virtual machines that provide the requirements (solution time and cost) to the solution of the user’s task. An approach to the optimal VM selection is proposed for the solution of Bi-Criteria selection out of set of VMs based on Skyline operator.

Effective use Method of Cloudlet Resources by Mobile Users

By Rashid G. Alakbarov Oqtay R. Alakbarov

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijcnis.2018.02.06, Pub. Date: 8 Feb. 2018

The paper explores the architecture of mobile cloud technologies. The advantages and the problems emerging during the use of this technology are analyzed. The study analyzes the establishment of network infrastructure based on cloudlets at the second level of mobile computation clouds with hierarchic structure. At the same time, the issues of computation and meeting the demand for memory resources of mobile devices are investigated by employing this technology. The paper presents the solution of the linking problem of cloudlets located in the proximity of base stations of wireless metropolitan area networks (WMAN). The study also determines the number of communication channels among cloudlets for the purpose of effective utilization of cloudlet resources. The issue of uploading necessary program extensions to a corresponding cloudlet by using the possible number specifying the importance of cloudlets was investigated and a method was proposed.

By Rashid G. Alakbarov Fahrad H. Pashaev Oqtay R. Alakbarov

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijitcs.2017.11.03, Pub. Date: 8 Nov. 2017

Article studies development dynamics of mobile cloud technologies. Advantages of this technology and problems occurring during its use are analyzed. At the same time, issues related to meeting the demand of computing and memory resources of mobile equipment using this technology are studied. For this purpose, main monitoring parameters, especially delays in network, CPU usage percentage, memory usage, completion time of intended essential operations etc. are analyzed. Considering significance of selected parameters in Cloudlet creation, Integral monitoring parameter was established. In the article analyze technologies were given as the time series of integral parameter. Thus article studies conditions necessitating development of cloudlets on mobile computing clouds and solves issues of forecasting location time of cloudlets near certain base stations.
