BER Evaluation of FSO Link with Hybrid Amplifier for Different Duty Cycles of RZ Pulse in Different Conditions of Rainfall

By Pooja Kumari Rajeev Thakur

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.01, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

Free Space Optics is a medium with high bandwidth which has maximum data rate. Demand for large data speed capacity has been increasing exponentially due to the massive spread of internet services. So with the growing transmission rate and demand in the field of optical communication, the electronic regeneration has become more expensive. With the introduction of power optical amplifiers the cost of converting optical signals to electronic signals has been brought down immensely. This research paper describes the effect of varying duty cycle on BER performance of the FSO link with hybrid amplifier having different attenuation.

Lecture Time Table Reminder System on Android Platform (Case Study: Final Year Students, Computer Science Department)

By Ayeni Olaniyi Abiodun Dada Olabisi Talabi Olanrewaju

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.02, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

Forgetting the stipulated schedule or time of lectures due to one reason or the other has always been a major concern for students resulting in the students missing classes and thereby lagging behind in what the lecturer has taught the other students. The main purpose of developing the Lecture time table reminder system is to minimize this problem to an acceptable level. Lecture Timetable Reminder System is a mobile application developed on the Android platform for the students of Computer Science, 500level, Federal University of Technology, Akure, with the service of reminding them about their lectures. The major tools used in developing this application are Java, Eclipse, Android Software Development Kit (SDK), PHP and MySQL. Java is the programming language that was used and Eclipse is the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and Android SDK is a virtual device emulator. Then PHP was used to produce a response customized for each user's request to the application, MySQL is the database.

IP Packet Filtering using Hash Table for Dedicated Real Time IP Filter

By Rohit G Bal

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.03, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

IP filtering is a technique used to control IP packets flow in and out of a network where Filter engine inspects at source and destination IP of incoming and outgoing packets. Here Filter engine is designed to improve the performance of the filter, i.e. to reduce the processing time of the filtering mechanism. The data structure used in the IP filter is hashing, for larger number of hosts and variety ranges IP network of hosts hashing provides much better performance than link list. Here hash function for the hash table is valid IP classes with host capacities i.e. class A, class B, class C. The IP filter engine have to compare the source and destination IP of each IP packet. In hash table technique the comparison can be done with minimum number of comparisons.

An Efficient and Comapct Design of Coupled-Line Unequal Wilkinson Power Divider

By Avneet Kaur Jyoteesh Malhotra

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.04, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

In this paper, 3:1 and 10:1 unequal Wilkinson power dividers are designed and investigated. Unequal power dividers are an integral part of the feeding network for antenna array where their performance affects a group of elements rather than an individual element. Thus, there is a need for an accurate design for such dividers. A coupled-line section with two grounding via has been used to attain the high characteristic impedance line. This is done in order to outplay the microstrip fabrication constraints of printing very thin/fine conductor lines. Further to reduce the size of the structure, meandering of the transmission line has been done which procreates three designs, namely: 00 Serpentine Flexure, 1800 Serpentine Flexure and Compact Meandered Flexure. Verification of the design methodology has been done by creating a 10:1 Unequal WPD. The structures are implemented on a high-resistive silicon substrate (HRS) for a centre frequency of 1.575 GHz. Further, their EM analysis is done in terms of S-parameters such as return loss and insertion loss using commercially available FEM solver. Satisfactory RF performance, with return loss better than -10 dB and required power split for all the structures, has been achieved.

A Comprehensive Survey of Location Based Routing in Vehicular Networks

By Vikram Dhiman Ikjot Saini Manoj Kumar

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.05, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

Vehicular network is the real time network formed by the highly dynamic nodes. This environment of VANET along with the fixed geographical mapping of roads slows down the delivery of the message in case of unicast and broadcast. When unicast is applied then the latency increases significantly as hop count increases. While broadcast make use of the network resources which degrades the performance by decreasing the efficiency of the network. However, multicast is proposed as the parameter to enhance the performance by introducing multicasting trees. This strategy is applied for maintaining the vehicular nodes in a multicast tree manner which will provide single path between two vehicles in the tree. Further, in case of the link failures, tree partitions and reconfiguration is needed this induces to have very low latency and reduces packet overhead. Various location based routing protocols are discussed which reveals different aspects and applications of variety of routing protocols relying on the location information.

Providing Useful Data Reliably to Mobile Cloud Users from Random Wireless Sensor Network

By Shanthosh Palani

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijwmt.2017.01.06, Pub. Date: 8 Jan. 2017

The integration of mobile cloud computing and wireless sensor network plays an important role in the field of research and industry. Data fetched from Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are stored in the cloud and provides it to the mobile cloud users. This integration helps in providing data to users in the form of digitalization. To help the applications involving an integration of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC)–Wireless Sensor Network, this paper finds the crucial things that influence the sensor data and WSN, and then propose a concept called Time based Priority Sleep Scheduling (TPSS). TPSS is divided into three parts 1. Based on the priority and time, wireless sensor network gateway should transmit the sensed data to cloud and 2. The algorithm used to save the battery consumption of mobile users in fetching data from the cloud is Priority Based Sleep Scheduling (PBSS); this provides data to users request based on the time slot. 3. Location Based Sleep Scheduling (LBSS) algorithm used to provide sensed data based on mobile cloud users location.
