Enhancing Nigerian Telecommunication Customer Service Channels Using Self-Service Software Model

By Adamu Abubakar Hyacinth C. Inyiama Olayemi Mikail Olaniyi Muhammad Bashir Abdullahi

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2017.02.01, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2017

Until recently, the most common methods used by Nigerian Telecommunication Operators for providing services to their customers include: customer service centers and online channels. With the rapid increase in the number of customers, the existing channels of responding to customers queries through walk in centers and online customer agent cannot be adequate due to the time required to respond to each customer’s queries. Hence the need to provide an alternative channel that will often provide faster, reliable, convenient, less expensive and most affordable customer service. In this paper, a self-service model was developed for Nigerian Telecommunications Operators to improve customer service delivery. Self-Service Software Model (SSSM) allows customers to request for specific services without interacting with customer care representative at their own convenient time and have these services delivered to them within a short period of time. SSSM was designed using Model-View-Controller design pattern and implemented using Hypertext Markup Language, Cascading Style Sheet and MySQL relational database management. The prototype of the SSSM was tested with data collected and analysed from three Telecommunication subscribers in Nigeria. The results of the study showed that the model allows customers to request for specific services at their own convenience in a timely manner and it is faster, reliable, less expensive, and reduces cost of maintaining hardware, software and overhead cost of existing customer service delivery.

An Investigation on IoT Healthcare Analytics

By Shanmugasundaram.G Sankarikaarguzhali.G

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2017.02.02, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2017

The Internet of Things makes things to become active participants enabling communication between things and transfer of data among themselves. It has a wide range of applications in various domain such as healthcare. The Internet of Things changes the way of delivering healthcare solution to people. It maintains a smooth relationship between doctors and patients which leads to high quality results in medical care. These are achieved by continuous monitoring of patients by using sensors. The data collected are recorded and used for analytics in future purpose. The analytical solution in healthcare data gives a potential for identification of diseases. This paper concerns the Internet of Things in healthcare and also portrays the technology involved in it. The paper discuss the architectures and services involved in medical care solution. Further the mechanism involved in healthcare analytics and data sources involved in analytics are explained. The various algorithms involved in it are investigated. It also analyses the various challenges in healthcare perspective.

Reliability of Software Correlated Components Failure in Pakistan Industry

By Darakshan Anjum Tasleem Mustafa

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2017.02.04, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2017

Now-a-days most important issue of software engineering in Pakistan industry is the correlated component failure, such failure occur when on component of the software is fail to work according to the specification and other related module to the specific component is also fail to perform the work. Due to this reason whole system destruction is possible as well as software development time and cost may be increased. The purpose of the study is to analyze the probability of software correlated component failure before the implementation and also analyze the main factor that cause of software correlated failure in Pakistan industry. Data is collected from software houses by using the data gathering techniques such as survey and interviews.
After doing statistical analysis by using bar chart conclude that in Pakistan industry main reason of software failure is error in software resource analysis in addition to faults in testing of the software. To overcome these issues in future it’s important to improve the testing phase of the software development process and during development of the software better techniques used for the resource allocation process.

Map-Reduce based Multiple Sub-Graph Enumeration Using Dominating-Set Graph Partition

By Fathimabi Shaik R B V Subramanyam DVLN Somayajulu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2017.02.05, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2017

The purpose of this paper is to find all the instances of a given set of pattern graphs (sub-graphs) in a large data graph using a single round of Map-Reduce. For the simplest pattern graphs like a triangle and rectangle we propose the solution. This paper enumerates complex pattern graphs using the enumeration of simple pattern graphs. We proposed Dominating set based graph partition, it generates non-overlapped sub-graphs. Each sub-graph is processed by one machine in the cluster. We analyze both the communication cost and the total computational cost. Communication cost is reduced by using Map-Reduce based dominating set graph partition. At the same time Multiple pattern (sub-graphs) graphs can be enumerated with the same communication cost. The proposed method is not always superior to the conventional sub-graph enumeration, but in some cases involving large-scale data where this method wins, including (1) Adjacency list representation of the graph is the input (2) Number of partitions are decided based on the graph size. We experimentally show that our approach decreases significantly the computation cost, communication cost and scales the enumeration process with a large graph database.

Data Modeling for E-Voting System Using Smart Card based E-Governance System

By Rupali Khatun Tania Bandopadhyay Abhishek Roy

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2017.02.06, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2017

For a developing country like India, maintaining an efficient administration within affordable budget is a big challenge. The application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) based E-Governance can facilitate the administration in much efficient and cost effective manner compared to the traditional method of administration. Since an efficient administration is dependent on the collection of opinion of its participants (i.e the voters), flawless voting mechanism becomes the primary pillar of governance. But in the present days of busyness, many people stay away from their voting constituency due to various compulsions, thereby giving rise to number of uncast votes to a significant level. In order to solve this problem, in this paper authors have extended the concept of multifaceted smart card oriented E-Governance system to propose bio-metric authentication based E-Voting system, where Bluetooth fingerprint scanner will be paired with the voter’s smart phone to implement the proposed concept. This propose system will use a mobile application to input user identification number using the Multipurpose Electronic Card (MEC) based E-Governance system. In case of successful authentication, the voter will be allowed to caste the original vote, else it will be barred. Hence, this approach will prevent the malicious tendency of proxy voting using advanced authentication system. Since this proposed E-Voting system have to handle huge data traffic during its implementation, its database should be designed at first to reduce data redundancy and inconsistency as much as possible. Hence, in this paper, authors have designed its database system using Data Flow Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) to demonstrate the relationship between its primary entities and tables.
