DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.03.02, Pub. Date: 29 Jun. 2012

Based on shift-share method, the author analyses the industrial structure benefit of coastal city of Shandong since 1990. Results indicate that the industrial structure of coastal city of Shandong is not rational in different degree, which results in slow-moving of the economic growth. The industrial structure of Yantai, weihai, rizhao are in lower level, in particular tertiary industry, so it cannot provide much-needed supporting services for rapid development of the second industry. The proportion of the first industry in the economy is extremely large in rizhao, it can't adapt to the new period of industrial structure development trend. Therefore, continual adjustment, optimization of the economic structure and improvement of the industrial quality are needed so as to promote the coordinated and rapid development of economy.

Road Network Pattern Classification Using GEV Distribution Parameters

By Chao Yang Qi Liu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.03.04, Pub. Date: 29 Jun. 2012

Network pattern mentioned in this paper is referred to the geographical layout and structure of a network, which is related to the connection, direction, and combination features of roads in a road network. A quantitative method is proposed in this paper to classify patterns of networks, through which a network could be identified quantitatively to be one of the three standard patterns, i.e., grid network, circle+radial network and tree-patterned network. Metric distances of shortest paths are taken as the main features of the networks and are described by parameters through Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) fitting. The criteria for pattern classification were established according to the cluster analysis of the parameters calculated from a set of trial networks. Six real networks were calculated using the method and their patterns are identified according to the proposed criteria. It turned out that the method could capture the features of the network patterns well. This method may set a threshold of the more general and deep studies of network pattern classification, which may offer help to road network planning and assessment.

Epipolar Geometry Estimation for Wide Baseline Stereo

By Zhang Dazhi Wang Yongtao Tao Wenbing

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.03.06, Pub. Date: 29 Jun. 2012

The epipolar geometry is the intrinsic projective geometry between two views, and the fundamental matrix is the algebraic representation of epipolar geometry. Recovery of epipolar geometry is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Its importance is due to the fact that it provides relationships between corresponding point in the two images. In this paper, the problem of automatic robust estimation of the epipolar geometry for wide-baseline image pair is addressed. this problem for wide-baseline image pair is difficult because the putative correspondences include a low percentage of inlier correspondences, and it could become a severe problem when the veridical data are themselves degenerate or near-degenerate. Base on our previous work, a topological clustering(TC) is proposed to apply to fundamental matrix estimating. The TC algorithm has been demonstrated to be able to effectively eliminate the mismatches and reserve the correct matches. This advantage is extremely important to speeds up the performance of the epipolar geometry estimation and avoid the degeneracy. First, a set of match clusters are generated from the initial SIFT matches using topological clustering algorithm. Then, all the valid pairs of clusters are used to generate a series of fundamental matrix estimates and the best estimate is chosen as the solution. Six famous image pairs are used to test the proposed algorithms and the comparison with the related methods has been conducted. The compared experiments emphasize the performance of the proposed CPC algorithms.

Investigation of Infrared Image Prediction for Subsonic Exhaust Plume

By Fei Mei Shiguo Chen YingHong Li Yong Jiang Jing Cai ShuKun Zhang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.03.07, Pub. Date: 29 Jun. 2012

An infrared imaging prediction model of exhaust plume was developed to understanding the infrared characteristics of exhaust plume. The method is based on the irradiance calculation of all pixels on the focal plane array. In order to compute the irradiance incident on each pixel, the gas radiation transfer path in the plume for the instantaneous field of view (IFOV) corresponds to the pixel was solved by the simultaneous equation of a cylinder which covers the exhaust plume and the line of sight. Radiance for the transfer path was calculated by equation of radiation transfer for nonscattering gas. The radiative properties of combustion were computed by Malkmus model with EM2C narrow band database(25cm-1). The pressure, species concentration for the path was determination by CFD analysis. The relatively intensity of each pixel was transferred to color in the display according to gray map coding and hot map coding. Infrared image of the exhaust plumes from a subsonic axisymmetric nozzle was predicted with the model. By changing the parameters, such as FOV and space resolution , the image of different imaging system can be predicted for varying relatively position of camera and the plume.

By Yanhong Zou Xiancheng Mao Wenfeng Xi

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.03.09, Pub. Date: 29 Jun. 2012

Aiming at the spatial shape analysis of complex geological bodies in stereoscopic quantitative prediction of concealed ore bodies, a three-dimensional morphological analysis method for geological bodies based on 3-dimensional raster model under visualization environment was put forward by combining mathematical morphology with Euclidean distance transform theory. Firstly, the 3-dimensional visualization models for geological bodies were constructed on the basis of the 3-dimensional geological modeling (3DGM) technology; Secondly, the algorithm for extracting the surface shape trend of geological body with the 3-dimensional raster model was proposed by using mathematical morphology filtering. By the combination of morphological filtering, global set operation and three-dimensional Euclidean distance transform, the models for the quantitative analysis and extraction of the shape undulance were established. Lastly, as a case study, the three-dimensional morphological analysis method was applied in analyzing quantitatively the Xinwuli magmatic body in Fenghuangshan ore field in Tongling, Anhui Province. By means of the calculation model of Euclidean distance field, the quantitative extraction of the shape trend and shape undulance as the quantitative indexes of geological ore-controlling factors were achieved after building the 3D raster models of the magmatic body. The results show that the morphological analysis method is feasible to calculate various morphological parameters of complex geological bodies and extract quantitative indexes of geological ore-controlling factors successfully for stereoscopic quantitative predication of concealed ore bodies.
