A Service-oriented Dual-bus BAM System Model

By Yalei Yang Xing She Zhou Wenjian Xu Gang Yang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.01, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

Based on a thorough analysis and comparison of several business activity monitoring(BAM) system models, noting that a BAM system is open, integrative, and real-time, and using the SOA software engineering techniques, this paper presents a service-oriented dual-bus BAM system model and analyzes in detail the functions of its service components and communications among them. Much more open than prior models, this BAM system model has a two-level bus architecture, which enables flexible and extensible implementations of practical systems, as well as provides a foundation for software reuse.

On a GARCH Model with Normal Scale Mixture Innovations

By Feng Feng

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.02, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

Recently, there has been a lot of interest in modeling real data with a heavy tailed distribution. A popular candidate is the so-called generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH) model. Unfortunately, the tails of normal GARCH models are not thick enough in some applications. In this paper, we propose a GARCH model with normal scale mixture innovations, the parameters estimation procedure using EM algorithm is also provided. It is shown that GARCH models with normal scale mixture innovations have tails thicker than those of normal GARCH models. Therefore, the GARCH models with normal scale mixture innovations are more capable of capturing the heavy-tailed features in real data. Shanghai Stock Market Index as a real example illustrates the results.

Based on the complex and networking characteristics of the combat system under the informationtization condition, combining the complex network theory, the author put forwards three network extension rules and established the network-based system model. Meanwhile, this article discussed the network characteristic parameters, reliability assessment and some other problems, and further relied on the simulation to analyze the network characteristics, reliability and the vital nodes mining under the different extension rules. The research methods and conclusions in this article can be used as the combat system’s arguments and references to its optimization.

Application of AC Algorithm Based on RS in Stock Index Prediction

By Xiaoguang Wang Fuxian Liu Hui Liu Fei Ma

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.04, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

The AC Algorithm may easily get a lower pattern similarity when performing the AC under the situation of encountering multi-dimensional data, so this will affect the selection of similar patterns. Combining the Rough Set theory, the author makes the data dimension reduction processing. The experiment shows that the AC algorithm based on RS is practical and its performance efficiency and prediction accuracy are much higher than the AC algorithm.

Study on Contact Fatigue Life Prediction for Clasp Joint Structure of Mooring Buoy

By Zifan Fang Daojia Du Kongde He Wenhui Shu Qingsong He Binfei Xiang Huapan Xiao

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.05, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

This paper focuses on predicting the contact fatigue life of the mooring buoy clasp joint structure by using the finite element program ANSYS/Fatigue. Mises equivalent stress is choosed as a stress-related fatigue criterion. An evaluation method of fatigue life under the pressure of buoyancy and wave force is established for the mooring buoy clasp joint structure. Firstly, wave force is treated as Morison dynamic force here and mooring buoys vibration model is conducted to analyze the dynamic response characteristics of vertical vibration of the mooring buoy. Secondly, dynamic contact stress calculations are conducted by directly exerting calculated vibration loads on the mooring buoy, and the stress spectrums of nodes are obtained. Finally, the S-N material fatigue curve and the Miner linear cumulative damnification principle are commonly applied to evaluate the contact fatigue life of the mooring buoy. The results show that the finite element program ANSYS/Fatigue can solve the contact fatigue problem simply, economically and efficiently. It also provides an effective engineering analysis method for these kinds of fatigue problems of the underwater mooring buoy.

Variational Iteration Method for Solving Differential Equations with Piecewise Constant Arguments

By Qi Wang FengLian Fu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.06, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

In this paper, variational iteration method is applied for finding the solution of differential equations with piecewise constant arguments. A correction functional is constructed by a general Lagrange multiplier, which can be identified by variational theory. This technique provides a sequence of functions which converges to the exact solution of the problem without discretization of the variables. The flexibility and adaptation provided by the method have been verified by an example.

Single Component, Multiphase Fluids Flow Simulation in Porous Media with Lattice Boltzmann Method

By Xinming Zhang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.07, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

In this paper, a single component, two-phase flow simulator is developed to investigate the behavior of isothermal two-phase fluid flow in porous media. The simulator is based on the lattice-Boltzmann method and the Shan–Chen multiphase model of nonideal fluids that allow coexistence of two phases of a single substance. We reproduce some different idealized situations in which the results are already known from theory or laboratory measurements and show the validity of the implementation for the physical two-phase flow in porous media. Application of the method to fluid intrusion in porous media is discussed and shows the effect of wettability on the fluid flow. The capability of reproducing critical flooding phenomena under strong wettability conditions is also proved.

Modeling Changing Graphical Structure

By Fengjing Cai Yuan Li

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.08, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

We introduce the graphical models to describe the changing dependency structure between multivariate time series and design the algorithm by the markov chain monte carlo method. The model is applied to the stock market of Shanghai in China to study the changing correlation of five segments of the market, empirical results show that there is stronger dependency structure in the bear market and weaker correlation in the bull market.

By Zhou Min Tang Xiao-yan Li Jian-xin Cai Xiao-li

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.09, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

Web services are applications deployed in network, can be used in some fields such as B2B e-commerce, the integration between portals and content providers. Web services discovery mechanism is the important part of integration. We extended traditional service description and proposed a service discovery mechanism and realized the mechanism in an agent-based Web services integration framework. Results of this study can be applied to a wide range of cross-enterprise business entity docking, thereby promoting the development of electronic commerce.

By Fengjing Cai Yuan Li

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.11, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

The graphical approach is applied to the autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity time series models. After transformation, it is shown that the coefficients of GARCH model are the conditional correlation coefficients conditioned on the other components of the time series, then a new method is proposed to test the significance of the coefficients of GARCH model.

Calculation of Failure Probability of Series and Parallel Systems for Imprecise Probability

By Bin Suo Yong-sheng Cheng Chao Zeng Jun Li

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.02.12, Pub. Date: 6 Apr. 2012

In the situation that unit failure probability is imprecise when calculation the failure probability of system, classical probability method is not applicable, and the analysis result of interval method is coarse. To calculate the reliability of series and parallel systems in above situation, D-S evidence theory was used to represent the unit failure probability. Multi-sources information was fused, and belief and plausibility function were used to calculate the reliability of series and parallel systems by evidential reasoning. By this mean, lower and upper bounds of probability distribution of system failure probability were obtained. Simulation result shows that the proposed method is preferable to deal with the imprecise probability in reliability calculation, and can get additional information when compare with interval analysis method.
