Application of Mathematical Methods and Models in Product - Service Manufacturing Processes in Scientific Innovative Technoparks

By Alovsat Garaja Aliyev Roza Ordukhan Shahverdiyeva

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmsc.2018.03.01, Pub. Date: 8 Jul. 2018

The article focuses on the application of mathematical methods and models in product - service manufacturing processes in scientific innovative technoparks. The necessity of applying economic-mathematical models and methods in the activity of innovative structures is substantiated. A system of indicators and criteria for assessing the performance and effective management of technoparks has been developed. Based on this system, an information model of the technopark was proposed. A mathematical model of the general management of technoparks is proposed. An econometric model for the innovative product-service manufacturing has been developed. The technique of comparative evaluation of innovative technology parks based on a system of composite indicators and a composite index is proposed. As a result of the experimental implementation of these methods and models, the activity of technoparks.

Bayesian Normal and T-K Approximations for Shape Parameter of Type-I Dagum Distribution

By Hummara Sultan Uzma Jan S.P Ahmad

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmsc.2018.03.02, Pub. Date: 8 Jul. 2018

Dagum distribution is a statistical distribution used closely for fitting income and wealth distributions. This distribution has wide application in fields like reliability theory survival analysis, actuarial sciences, and meteorological data. In this article, we obtained Bayes estimators for the shape parameter of Dagum distribution using approximation techniques like normal and T-K approximations. Moreover different informative priors have been considered and a simulation study and three real data sets have been considered to study the efficiency of obtained results.

Some Measures of Picture Fuzzy Sets and Their Application in Multi-attribute Decision Making

By Nguyen Van Dinh Nguyen Xuan Thao

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmsc.2018.03.03, Pub. Date: 8 Jul. 2018

To measure the difference of two fuzzy sets / intuitionistic sets, we can use the distance measure and dissimilarity measure between fuzzy sets. Characterization of distance/dissimilarity measure between fuzzy sets/intuitionistic fuzzy set is important as it has application in different areas: pattern recognition, image segmentation, and decision making. Picture fuzzy set (PFS) is a generalization of fuzzy set and intuitionistic set, so that it have many application. In this paper, we introduce concepts: difference between PFS-sets, distance measure and dissimilarity measure between picture fuzzy sets, and also provide the formulas for determining these values. We also present an application of dissimilarity measures in multi-attribute decision making.

Optimal Control Dynamics: Control Interventions for Eradication of Ebola Virus Infection

By Bassey B. Echeng Bassey Delphine Rexson

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmsc.2018.03.04, Pub. Date: 8 Jul. 2018

In affirmation of the existence of control interventions for the eradication of Ebola virus infection as a remedy to complete lack of outright medical cure, the present study seek and formulated using continuous ordinary differential equations an extended BEB-SEIR 4-Dimensional mathematical Ebola dynamic model vested with the scope of establishing the epidemiological impact of identified structured Ebola control measures. Derived model was presented as an optimal control problem subjected to structured dual treatment functions. Moreso, following the validity of model state components as representatives of living organisms and the establishment of existence of boundedness of solutions; we performed our analysis using classical Pontryagin’s maximum principle with which the optimality system of the model was established. Numerical simulations of derived model via Runge-Kutter of order 4 in a Mathcad surface were conducted. Result clearly indicated enhanced impact of intermediary and secondary control interventions as Ebola virus treatment functions with high significant maximization of susceptible population devoid of Ebola infection. Both the exposed and infectious classes were maximally reduced to near zero with possibilities of achieving complete eradication if time interval could be extended exceeding the of Ebola life-cycle. Furthermore, recovery rate of removed class justified the formulation and application of the model. The study therefore suggests further articulation of the model to account for possible intracellular delay in the biological mechanism.

Asymptotic Solutions of a Semi-submerged Sphere in a Liquid under Oscillations

By Shamima Aktar M. Abul Kawser

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmsc.2018.03.05, Pub. Date: 8 Jul. 2018

One of the most widely used techniques to look into transient behaviour of vibrating systems is the Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolskii (KBM) method, which was developed for obtaining the periodic solutions of second order nonlinear differential systems of small nonlinearities. Later on, this method was studied and modified by numerous scholars to obtain solutions of higher order nonlinear systems. This article modified the method to study the solutions of semi-submerged sphere in a liquid which is floating owing to the gravitational force and the upward pressure of the liquid. This paper suggests that the results obtained for different sets of initial conditions by the modified KBM method correspond well with those obtained by the numerical method.
