GSM Use Pattern for Information Dissemination and Evaluation of Income Level among Rural Dwellers in Uruan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

The use of GSM phones in Nigeria started in 2001 after two communication giants MTN Nigeria and Econet (now Airtel Nigeria) were granted licenses by the Federal Government through the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC). The study examined the GSM use pattern among five rural villages in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in South - South zone of Nigeria. The study used the descriptive survey design. Researchers constructed questionnaire titled GSM use pattern and evaluation of income level among rural dwellers questionnaire "GUPEILRDQ" was administered on 500 respondents selected through simple random sampling from the five villages. Results indicate that the use of GSM phone among the people of this community is high. The pattern of use was found to decrease with age while men used GSM more than the women. Study also revealed that the use of GSM has positive impacts on the income levels and socio-economic lives of the people. Majority of the people relied on their friends, children, relatives, political and business associates to recharge their phones. Also most of the people were of the opinion that the introduction of GSM in the area is a blessing. A rural telephony project was embarked by the Federal Government of Nigeria but had been abandoned. Two major telephone operators MTN Nigeria and Airtel Nigeria have been embarking on rural telephone projects in the rural areas. The introduction of GSM in Nigeria has had great impact on the lives of the people.

Shift Window FPTree - An Efficient Stream Mining Algorithm

Breathless flow in data collection and storage mechanism has enabled Firms to heap up a massive amount of data. In many cases, these huge volumes of data can be mined for fascinating and applicable information in a wide range of applications. When the arrival of data is fast as well in a large bunches in term of amount, this lead major problem to go through this data in both the circumstances in store it and in extracting the useful information from it. To taking under these issues continues mining or stream mining is a best way. Data steam mining allows to not storing the entire data for future prediction which lead to overcome the e-vestige and unnecessary storage overhead. But there is no such way in literature to mine continues data direct, so first one make it feasible accordingly and then mine it. Here in this paper we present an algorithm which handle stream data in very effective manner.

A Practical Scheme for Implementing Client Side Encryptions and Decryptions

The amount of data that is generated each day is rapidly increasing so that the traditional ways of data storage seems to be inadequate. Cloud Computing has helped a lot to solve the storage issues but fear of data leakage hinders its widespread acceptance. Even though the public clouds like Amazon, Google etc store the data in encrypted form, data loss can still occur during transmission. The only practical solution is to upload encrypted data to cloud. Hence users should have an additional software or application to encrypt the data before uploading and decrypt the data after retrieval. This article analyzes different solutions for implementing such applications. The article also describes about the cryptographic primitives that can be added for enforcing security.

A Model Driven Framework for Portable Cloud Services: Proof of Concept Implementation

Rapid development of Cloud Computing and its increasing popularity in recent years has driven many commercial cloud providers in the market. Cloud service providers have a lot of heterogeneity in the resources they use. They have their own servers, different cloud infrastructures and APIs and methods to access the cloud resources. Lack of standards has caused the collaboration and portability of cloud services a very complex task. In this paper we have identified the challenges involved in portability of cloud apps and analyzed the existing techniques for portability at platform level. In this paper, we propose an approach using Model Driven Engineering to develop SaaS applications in a cloud-agnostic way. We introduce DSkyL, an eclipse plugin for cloud application development using feature models and domain model analysis, which would support construction, customization, development and deployment of cloud application components across multiple clouds. It also reduces the application development time drastically. This paper aims to sketch the architecture of DSkyL and the major steps involved in the process.
