The Impact of Organizational Slack on The Performance of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Firms

The purpose of this paper is to attempt to reconcile previous views of the relationship between organizational slack and performance through examining the impact of organizational slack on the performance of pharmaceutical and chemical firms by using empirical analysis based on the data get from 47 firms in Henan Province. The result shows that the relationship between organizational slack and the performance of pharmaceutical and chemical firms is inverse N-shaped. The results broadly demonstrate that relationships differ based on industry circumstances and organizational slack. Additionally, this study is the first to empirically identify an inverse N-shaped relationship between slack and performance, indicating that, in certain industry circumstances, little and much slack is bad for performance. Overall, results highlight the importance of additional research into intervening factors impacting the slack–performance relationship.

Prediction of Protein Subcellular Localization Using EDA based Ensemble Classifiers

The function of protein is closely correlated with its subcellular locations. New composed proteins can perform normal biological function only after they are translocated to correct subcellular locations. In this paper, a new selective ensemble classifiers based on EDA algorithm has been proposed. In the method, pseudo amino acid composition was firstly applied to form the protein feature sets, then 10 neural networks is generated to learn the subsets which are re-sampling from feature subsets with PSO algorithm. At last, appropriate classifiers are selected to construct the prediction committee with EDA algorithm. Experiment shows that the proposed method produces the best prediction accuracy than the other methods on SNL6 database.

Automatically Extracting Name Alias of User from Email

Mining user identity information from emails is an important research topic in email mining. Most approaches extract an email user's name only from the header of an email, but there are often many name information in the body of emails, which are usually more suitable for representing the sender's or recipient's identity. This paper focuses on the problem of extracting email users' name aliases in the body of plain-text emails. After locating and extracting salutation and signature blocks from email bodies, we can identify the potential aliases in the salutation and signature lines, which can be directly related with the email addresses in email headers, by using named entity recognition(NER) tools. To verify and amend the potential aliases that were identified by NER tools, we propose a novel approach to extract aliases in the salutation and signature lines based on name boundary word template built on the characteristics of alias neighboring words. Results on the public subset of the Enron corpus indicate that the approaches presented in this paper can efficiently extract user's aliases from email bodies.

Neural Network Recognizes Fruit Fly's Wing Vibration Sound Based on Hilbert-Huang Transform

The paper applies Hilbert-Huang Transform to process the fruit fly's wing vibration sound. Firstly, it gets Hilbert-Huang spectrum and marginal spectrum of the wing vibration sound of two different strains of fruit fly in the same species. Then, it analyzes differences of the energy size and the energy distribution, and extracts features including the relative energy, time-frequency entropy and the cumulated amplitude value of marginal spectrum. Finally, recognizes two different strains of fruit fly by BP neural network and obtains a satisfying result. The experiment result verifies effectiveness and feasibility of the feature extraction, and the paper offers a new evidence for the study of discrimination in intraspecies relationship of fruit fly.

Salt Transfer Law for Cotton Field with Drip Irrigation Under The Plastic Mulch in Arid Zone

Salt transfer law for cotton field with drip irrigation under the plastic mulch was analyzed from two aspects: different postemergences and different direction (vertical direction and horizontal direction). The results show that with the retardation of postemergences, the accumulation of salt in 0-50cm soil layers decrease in different extent. The accumulation of salt in vertical direction increase at the soil layers from 50 to 70cm, but the one at the soil layers from 70 to 90cm change a little. The accumulation of salt in horizontal direction at the narrow row is more than any other position and the one under the emitter is least.

Fast Identification Algorithm of Time-varying Modal Parameter Based on Two-layer Linear Neural Network Learning

The key of fast identification algorithm of time-varying modal parameter based on subspace tracking is to find efficient and fast subspace-tracking algorithm. This paper presents a new version of NIC(Novel Information Criterion) using two-layer linear neural network learning for subspace tracking. Comparing with the original algorithm, there is no need to set a key control parameter in advance. Simulation experiments show that new algorithm has a faster convergence in the initial period.

Supply Voltage Compensation of Hot Wire Flow Measurement Device

Supply voltage compensation is important to keep the accuracy for hot wire/hot film gas flow sensors. A compensation experiment device is established, the two steps curve fitting is presented to determine the functional relations among flow、sensor output and supply voltage, the coefficient of fitting polynomial is determined by Least Square method, thus eliminating the influence of supply voltage variations. After compensation, the error is reduced to 2%. The algorithm is stabilized, easily to be fullfilled in microcontroller unit.

An Alternating Direction Implicit Method for Solving Projected Generalized Continuous-Time Sylvester Equations

In this paper we propose a low-rank alternating direction implicit (ADI) method to solve projected generalized continuous-time Sylvester equations with low-rank right-hand sides. Such equations arise in control theory including the computation of inner products and norms, and the model reduction based on balanced truncation for descriptor systems. The requirements of this method are moderate with respect to both computational cost and memory. Numerical experiments presented in this paper show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A Study on Sustainable Development of Grain Production Coping with Regional Drought in China

The sustainable development of grain production is a necessary condition for Chinese rapid economic development, which is directly related to people's livelihood and national security. This paper analyzed the frequent occurrence causes of regional drought in China, emphatically enumerated the North-South imbalance of precipitation distribution in time and space, the excessive tillage and grazing and vegetation damage, the hydro-agricultural infrastructure aging and the rapid urbanization diverted for agricultural water resources, which impact the sustainable development of grain production, then proposed some countermeasures coping with frequently regional drought crisis: strengthen the protection of forest vegetation, the scientific planning of planting structure, and the balance regulation of urban industrial water and grain irrigation water, surface water and ground water and of the water allocation between the administrative region, and solve the discharge of sewage purification and desalination technologies, thus establish an integrated balance system of total supply and regional control of grain irrigation water, so as to continuously perfect the durable and stable supply of grain in China.
